The Vassar Round Robin will be held on the weekend of September 9-11 at the Collegiate School in New York City. Traditionally, the Round Robin has been held at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is the first year that the event has been hosted in the city.
The Vassar Round Robin is a competition for sophomores and juniors, and over the past nine years the competition has featured some of the biggest names in LD debate. The first Vassar Round Robin Champion was Abby Alger from Niskayuna, who defeated Paul. D. Schriber’s Adwait Parker in the final round in 2003. Other champions have included Matt Shields of Scarsdale, Ali Huberlie (then) of Hollis-Brookline, Joan Gass and Lindsay Dolan of Hockaday, who closed out in 2006, and Daniel Moerner, who defeated Jake Nebel in the final round of the 2007 event.
Good luck to this year’s participants!
From Jon Cruz:
The students participating should know that they are about to compete at a tournament which has gained a rich history in its nine years. They are now part of that tradition of excellence. I am most excited to host them.
