Capitol Beltway Fall Classic Open for Registration

Registration for the Capitol Beltway Fall Classic is now open on tabroom.com.

Capitol Classic Debate and the Walt Whitman High School Speech & Debate team cordially invite you to the Capitol Beltway Fall Classic at Walt Whitman. This year’s tournament will be held October 24-26, 2014, at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, and reflects a new and exciting combination of the Capitol Fall Classic and the Whitman Beltway Tournaments. We will offer varsity competition in Policy debate, Lincoln Douglas debate, and Public Forum debate. We are pleased to announce that the tournament has been designated by the TOC as a Finals bid qualifier in both Policy debate and Public Forum debate and a Semis bid in Lincoln-Douglas. There will be 6 preliminary debates in all divisions and then a requisite amount of elimination debates based on the number of participating teams in each division. Policy and LD debate will offer mutually preferential judging and the tournament will invest in hiring an exceptional judge pool.

In line with previous Fall Classics and Beltway tournaments, we are committed to providing outstanding hospitality for all those who attend to make your stay more enjoyable. We will provide all meals at no cost for all debaters, coaches and judges throughout the weekend, including an international luncheon on Saturday. We will offer housing for debaters on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in housing, please emailcapitolbeltwayhousing2014@gmail.com.

The tournament location is within 45 minutes of all three Washington, D.C. airports — Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI – a major Southwest hub), Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), and Washington Dulles (IAD). Bethesda is also on the Washington, D.C. subway (Metro) system. We are happy to help with logistics; just let us know if you need assistance.

Look forward to seeing you in the fall!
